Day 20 Climb, Climb, Climb on …
So much climbing!!! And so many good faces. We were sad to see Gina leave yesterday, but our friend Mario had joined us since our last post and we’ve been cruising right along. Mario basically sent Tatonka today being the beast that he is (perhaps in preparation for our go at the Grand Wall Route tomorrow???) and Jen sent Viper this morning in an awe inspiring push. Matt straight crushed Gibbs cave earlier this week and I’m sure that there will be details and pictures to come when he posts this past week’s pictures (in the meantime you can check out Gina sending by clicking here ). The first day Matt got on Gibbs Cave, which is a wicked hard problem, he managed to pull the crux in a couple goes only to fall off the easier moves above. It seems Matt has a certain knack for crushing the hard stuff and falling off the easier stuff! I was certain he was going to cruise the climb after a rest day, but my opinion quickly changed after we decided to spend that day hiking to the top of the Chief. The hike up was not too bad, but the hike down was brutal on only Matt and my legs -the girls seemed to have no problem- go figure?! Matt was resilient the next day and sent in only a couple goes. Nice job Matt, the hardest send to date!!! The coffee shop is closing now so I have to bounce, but there’ll more to come soon …PS. So psyched to run into my NOLS instructor buddy Ben randomly in the parking lot! I”m sure we’ll get to explore some stellar routes together.
DAG! miss you like crazy boys…
