Day 74 Life in Bishop…

…has pretty much been uneventful. I’ve been sitting here trying to think of some witty humor or something funny that has happened (usually making fun of Eric) but things have been really low key. We’ve been climbing a lot. My body and fingers hurt all the time. I think I may take the weekend off to rest my bones and come back with some fury on Monday. One really nice thing that has happened since our last post is that we got some new camp mates. Our friends Matt and Isabelle have joined us for the remainder of our time in Bishop. There are a few pics of them in the Bishop gallery. We originally met them in Squamish. They headed for Utah and then came back to Bishop to climb with us. They are on a long road trip like us, so we may have them talked into stopping in Bama for some HP40 action. They are even thinking about meeting us in India for a couple of months next winter. We also had another guest this week. Dorota, originally from Poland but living in Kentucky, visited for a few days. We took her climbing and she did exceptionally well. Fearless would be good word. She was not so scared of the HighBall problems Bishop is known for. Hopefully she got the bug and will continue to climb when she gets back to Kentucky/Poland.We checked out some really cool HotSprings close to Mammoth with Matt, Isabelle, and Dorota. It was really nice. With out the help of Kevin and Barbara (our new local friends here) we would have never found the tub. The water was really hot, but that was great because it was pretty cold out that night. If you ever come to Bishop, the hot springs are great for rest days when you are sore.Nothing else new except we have finalized our plans for the remainder of our trip out west. Looks like we will be here in Bishop until Thanksgiving. We’re gonna make a quick stop in Joshua Tree on the way to San Diego. We’ll stay in San Diego with my brother for a few days over Thanksgiving, then we are headed to Hueco Tanks!! There maybe a couple stops on the way, i.e. Flagstaff and/or Mike Capizzi Place, on the way to El Paso. If you want to know the dates we will be climbing in Hueco, just email me and I’ll send them to ya. Hope some of you can make it out. Stuart and Ernest have already confirmed they are coming. The more the merrier.Last but not least, Eric ended his post with an email from his sister and I thought it was a really needed/good idea. Thought I would end my post with a quote. A good friend of mine sent me this, and I think it is so proper for our adventure and current life style. Maybe it will inspire some of you….”One final paragraph of advice: Do not burn yourself out. Be as I am-a reluctant enthusiast… a part time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it is still there. So get out there and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains. Run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to your body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards.”-Edward AbbeyHope you enjoyed. Until next time…Taker’ Easy-Matt

I just wanted you to know that I am on a super top secret ninja training program that is specially designed to optimize my available fury during the first week of December. I’m going to have to bottle up my excess fury during this period and poor it over my head while crushing Hueco Tanks because I couldn’t possibly hold any additional fury inside of my body. I will bring the sickness.

Also, you people don’t have jobs and therefore I think it is a moral imperative that you entertain those of us that have to sit at computers all day by sitting at your computer writing way more posts. I need more details if I’m going to live vicariously. Seriously guys, you are leaving far too much up to the imagination.

    The Fury is Rising,
    Stuart
