Day 95 Sending Rampage…

….has begun for Eric.  With only a week left to climb, Eric decided to send two of the his projects yesterday.  The day started with me trying Flyboy.  I got really close.  I swung off the lip three times with some really nice falls….I need to do some abdominal exercises to hold the swing or just grow a couple more inches.  During my first three goes Eric basically crushed it.  He had worked the problem with me but I think this was his first few encounters with the lip.  He decided not to epic like me and sent it second go with the help of some Conan the Barbarian screams (aka screams of Fury).  Totally inspired by the send, I decided to stop being stubborn and try different Beta to pull the lip.  Instead of bumping from the crimp, I decided to pull through the crimp.  It makes the move a little more scary and worse falls but it is so much better for me.  My first try I overshot the hold, swung out horizontal, flew past all the pads and hit the ground.  Thanks to Kevin, the fall wasn’t as bad as it could have been.  Second go, I got closer but still missed the hold on the lip.  I didn’t swing as far because I kinda held on to nothing.  When I came down, I landed right on a rock.  Again, another close call.  After this, I called it a day on Flyboy.  I will send first go tomorrow for sure with the new beta. After Flyboy, Eric wanted to try his other project, Little Forgotten.  His last session on it ended with him falling off the top because a foothold broke.  This is also when I almost ruined my shoulder spotting him.  Amped from Flyboy, Eric yet again crushed the problem on his second go.  It was really cool to watch.  He let out some more Conan the Barbarian screams at the crux and pulled straight through it.  A V8 and V9 in half an hour is pretty impressive.  Congrats Eric.  Even though we weren’t there, Josh Reyes send seems to have inspired us both. After our session, we went out for Sushi to celebrate our friend Matt’s Birthday.  Matt and Isa both love sushi and were pumped to go out.  Kevin and Barbara joined us for dinner then we all went back to Kevin’s house for a movie.  This is a luxury we don’t get to have a lot, so it seemed appropriate for Matt’s Birthday.  We were suppose to watch the Big Lebowski but were force to watch Duets.  I had never heard of this movie, but it turned out pretty funny.  If you are ever at the movie store and have no idea what to get, go ahead and rent it.Today starts the beginning of our last week in Bishop.  We are both really sad to have to leave.  We really love it here and the friends we have made basically made our experience here the best.  Time seems to be flying by.  It seems like only the other day we arrive in the Buttermilks at 2 am thinking we had all the time in the world here.  Not only that, but we are on Day 95….almost 100 days on the road.  Pretty crazy.  But, I can honestly say we are both still so excited about our trip and climbing.  I can’t wait for the next adventure….-Matt

Cop: And was there anything of value in the car?
The Dude: Oh, uh, yeah, uh… a tape deck, some Creedence tapes, and there was a, uh… uh, my briefcase.
Cop: [expectant pause] In the briefcase?
The Dude: Uh, uh, papers, um, just papers, uh, you know, uh, my papers, business papers.
Cop: And what do you do, sir?
    The Dude: I’m unemployed.
