Day 106 Rule #76…

…no excuses. Play like a Champion.  This is not only our new motto, but it is what I’ve been saying to Eric as he has been working the Equinox.  We went out to the Equinox on Sunday with Kevin.  I had not ever seen this climb and was pretty blown away.  It is truly an amazing line.  It kinda made me want to be a crack climber….then reality set in and I realized I am a boulderer, not a true climber.  I also realized I didn’t want to go through the pain that Eric and Kevin were putting themselves through as they painfully pulled on sharp finger locks.  Crimping razors even seemed like a better choice.  I was happy and content sunning on the rocks with Dre.  Eric made some really good progress.  He managed to figure out were to put all the gear, and he has most the moves dialed in.  After a little more work and I think he will red-point it.  The biggest accomplishment though, is that Eric believes he can climb it….and he will.  We’re gonna go back tomorrow morning and if needed on Monday morning on our way to Hueco Tanks.  Hopefully we will be able to tell everyone all about the amazing send.  The only thing missing is Eric’s brother Carl.  Apparently, this has been a joint project that they both have always gone to together.  I don’t think this will stop the send train though.Don’t worry, Carl….we know you wish you could be here and we’ll be thinkin of you.  You’ll be the first person we tell!!  Hope our video email finds you well, buddy. We picked up our friend Dre (from Baltimore) on our way to J-Tree.  She’s been a nice addition to the trip this week.  She has been climbing a little bit, destroying me at card games, and supporting Eric on his project.  Hopefully she’s had as much fun as we have.  We’re gonna hit some bouldering this afternoon for her…..she’s been crushing the routes, so we’ll see how she fairs on the boulders:)After the Equinox tomorrow we’re gonna head to LA to drop off Dre and then head down to my Brother and Sis-in-Law’s place in San Diego.  This should be an amazing time.  I’m really pumped we get to hang with part of my family for the Holidays.  It will also be another great opportunity to rest and recover before Hueco.  Hopefully the real bed, showers, home cooked food, hot-tub, and lazy days watching Will Ferrel movies will do my shoulder some good.  It is still not 100% but it is getting better.  Two weeks off should be enough….I hope:)Even with all the new place we’re going in the next few weeks, it is hard not to be sad leaving Bishop.  It was really an amazing experience for both Eric and I.  The bouldering was amazing but the people we met really made the trip.Kevin, we can’t tell you thank you enough for taking us in and all the good times we had together.  You are too generous and we hope to be able to repay this one day….until then, you better be planning on meeting us somewhere soon!!Brandon and Alana, thank you so much for the friendship and memories we’ll always have.  Stay psyched and start planing for SA or India….you are invited anywhere we are.Matt and Isa, we will never forget you guys.  You will always hold a special place in our hearts.  You truly made our Bishop experience.  Best of luck with the rest of your trip.  I will be counting down the days until you show up at my house in Alabama.  Good luck crushing. To everyone else we met while in Bishop:  Barbara, Peter, Trever, Matt, and too many more to name, we really appreciate everything and wish you guys the best.  Hope to see you all again soon. That pretty much sums it up.  Hope everyone has fun and safe Thanksgiving.  Eat a lot for us.  Taker’ Easy-Matt

Nice choice in music for the video guys… I do believe that came from MY music collection. Matt you will like this, that song is off of Sean Hayes’ album entitled “Alabama Chicken”.

Eric, I’m sending good crushing juju your way now, wishing I could actually be there to watch!
Afterwards, I think you two should just swing down to Potrero in a few weeks for some multi-pitch action with Juan and I.

Might have to get a TX address for your package of goodness… still waiting on some key ingredients from the Benessa… who are also considering SA now.

On that note, can I buy my tickets now?

    lots of lovin’ from PDX
