Day 260 Where Doth The Zeit Go
It has been crazy around here. I am indeed in Wanaka! I’ve been working on a vineyard, pruning buds, and preparing the vines for next season. It’s exhausting work since we start at sunup and quit at sundown. The hardest part is the cold. The ambient temperature is below freezing until around 10 in the AM. Despite such exhausting work we managed to rally and enter a film contest this weekend. The competition format is as follows: you have 48 hours to write, shoot, edit, and produce a 1-7 minute film on a special genre that they give you at the last minute. Your film must include three random elements that they give at the last minute as well. You can check out the details at www.48hours.co.nz It was CRAZY!!! Basically I got home from work on Friday of last week and I didn’t go to bed until Sunday night after we turned in our short. I’m still feeling like I’ve been hit by a truck! As soon as our short falls out of the heats we will post it on this webpage. Keep in mind that this was a time crunch comp with a genre that we were not so very familiar with (our genre was “time travel” -that’s right, bloody “time travel!!!”) so our film really is not very good, but it was pretty neat that we actually got it all the way to the finish line.
We were hoping to be graced with Matt’s presence for the shoot, but alas it seemed like everything that could conspire against him this past weekend did, hence he wasn’t able to make it down. He was however our Christchurch team representative and he told me in an email this morning that our short did pretty well in the first heat. YAY! I got a little worried when he didn’t show up, but it turned out he was fine … he just had a flat tire and no computer access for the weekend. Glad he’s alright. I’ll be working on the vineyard non-stop until the 11th of June when my girlfriend arrives :)!!! Can’t wait to see ya Soph! Then we’ll head either to Castle Hill to do some serious chill’n with Matt (and climbing with him a whole bunch) or, depending on the weather, we might head to Paynes Ford to throw down on the sharp end of some climbing tether! I’m so excited!!!
‘Til next time,
Eric
GREAT GREAT.
Dig the new movie…I was on the edge of my seat with that song you made to go with it. (And loved the way the credits were set up).,,,really just didn’t want it to end. Well done E!

“People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think that what we’re really seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.” –Joseph Campbell
E, glad to hear life is still kicking you in the pants…
Keep it up. xo

Eric Michael, it is so good to hear from you ! It sounds as if your day is absolutely filled to capacity. What a herculean effort you and your team put into your short film. Whatever happens it was a job completed which is worth a lot. I cannot wait to see it. Take care of yourself and I hope you get to taste some of the wine ! AMLA, Mom
